Alison Wright (born in England) is an English actress. Her most famous role was Martha Hanson in the FX spy period show The Americans. She received both critical praise and nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award for this. In addition, she has been a part of Ryan Murphy's limited television series Feud and Bette & Joan & Hollywood. Wright was a Sunderland resident, born on 12th July 1976. She began dancing and acting at a young age. She attended the highly regarded Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and The Barrow Group in New York City. Her waitressing job was interrupted through auditions for different roles. She had been scuba diving, a great love of hers, after suffering a heart event at sea which left her in a state of coma. Her family flew in to assist her at the hospital for six days following her passing. Wright was taken in by her parents as a child and was raised in Sunderland. Wright was born on 12 July 1976. She began dancing and acting at a young age. She was educated at The Barrow Group and the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York City.
